Cloud Proxy Deployment via vRSLCM
In a previous article I detailed deploying a vRealize Aria Operations Cloud Proxy by using Operations Manager and doing it ‘manually’. In this complimentory article I show the process of deploying the Cloud Proxy Appliance using Aria Life Cycle Manager (Formely vRealize life Cycle Manager).
Process
First log into the Aria Life Cycle Manager appliance and browse to your environment containing the vROPS instance that you want to expand with a Cloud Proxy. It is usually a good idea to carry out an inventory sync to make sure everything is uptodate in vRLSCM prior to starting any lifecycle operations.
Once you have completed that stage then goto Scale Out
Input the details regarding where the Cloud Proxy should be deployed to under the infrastructure tab. If this is a new datacenter you may need to set these details up first in environments. Click Next when complete.
Now we need to specify the network that the Cloud Proxy will be deployed to, , along with such things as DNS and NTP. Note that at this point we are not configuring the nodes specific details, just the network it will sit on. Click Next when complete.
On the components tab you now need to specify what type of Scale Out node you will deploy. Cloud Proxy is displayed. Select Cloud Proxy from the dropdown.
The diaglouge box will change to allow you to input the actual node details now. Once complete click Next to continue.
You will have to make sure that your vROPS node is using a Certiicate thgat contains the name of the node that is being deployed. If not the validation check will fail.
Once all the validation tests have passed you can submit the request and monitor the progress of the depolyment.
Once the deployment is complete you can log into the vROPs console and browse to data sources and then Cloud Proxies and see that the node has been deployed and showing as online.
