Recently Microsoft released Microsoft Flight Simulator and as an avid simmer I was keen to download this. The initial install is at least 120 GB with regular updates promised.

I noticed that the download for the game was not appearing to use my full Internet bandwidth. At first I thought this was due to the demand on lanuch day but found in the days afetr various forums of people saying the same thing.

There are many tips but the one that worked for me was adjusting the Windows AUTOTUNING LEVEL setting

Resolution

• Search for Command Prompt
• In the menu right click and select “Run as administrator”
• Enter: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
• Press enter
• It should display “Ok.” if teh command is accepted.
• Reboot your computer

On checking the download speed on subsequent downloads it was now using the full bandwidth available.
