Create NFS Share on Windows Server

In this post I am creating an NFS export using Windows Server.

Process

Log into Windows and if not already installed ensure that the Windows Server is running File and Storage Services > Server for NFS

Goto File and Storage Services and Click on the drop down Tasks and select New Share

Once the dialogue comes up select NFS Share-Quick then click Next

On the next screen you need to select the server where the share will be and the location. In this case I pre-created a folder called nfs located on the c drive. Select your location and click Next

Now we can give the share a name and edit the remote path details. In my case I am leaving the defaults. click Next

Now we must specify the authentication required on the share. As I will use this later for vCloud Director I need to allow unmapped user access. Click Next when these settings are as required.

Now we can limit which clients can access this share either by Host or Group. In my lab I can leave this as All Machines. I also set here the share permissions that I give to whatever has been selected. Click

The next screen is regarding which users you will allow access to the share. In my case I already said I give full access so I do not set anything additional here.

The last screen is confirmation of the details entered. If happy click Create which will create the NFS share ready for use.
