Upgrade vRealize Life Cycle Manager (vRSLCM) from 8.0.1 to 8.1
As part of last weeks release of new VMware vRealize product versions I decided to update my lab instance of vRealize Life Cycle Manager (vRLSCM) to the latest version, 8.1.
Process
When logged into vRLSCM, in the top right corner, the bell icon shows an alert that there is an update available. Browsing to Home > Settings > System Upgrade, Click on ‘Check for Upgrade’
This vRSLCM instance is connected directly to the internet so the Check Online radio button is left selected.
vRSLCM will now check to see if there are any product updates and show what these are. Below you can see that there is a new version 8.10.25 available.
The interface also recommends that a snapshot should be taken. It is also prudent to take a backup before proceeding.
To take a snapshot click ‘Create Snapshot‘ and fill out the vCenter and select the correct credential. Click Submit
vRSLCM will download the components needed for the upgrade.
Once the download has completed the upgrade can be started. During this upgrade the web interface restarts.
Once the upgrade is completed you can log back into vRSLCM. Checking under Home > Settings > System Upgrade we can see that the version last upgrade performed was from 8.0.1 to 8.1.
It is worth noting that the other products deployed via vRSLCM such as vIDM and vROPs will need to be upgraded separately. Both of these upgrades will be shown in future articles.
