Install vRealize Operations Manager 6.2 vAPP
In order to Install vRealize Operations Manager (vROPS) you need to download the file from VMware for the virtual appliance (vAPP)
First step is within the VMware Web Client to select ‘Deploy OVF Template’
On the Wizard that pops up you need to browse to the location of the install file either at a URL or in my case a local file. Note you will need the Client Integration plugin installed in your browser for this to work.
Once this has completed you are given an opportunity to review the details.
Next step is to Accept the EULA
Now it is time to select the VMware folder location to store the deployed appliance as well as customising the name of the appliance.
You are given an opportunity to select the size of the appliance that is deployed. Please consult the sizing recommendations at https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2130551 in order to choose the correct size for your environment. In this case as I am deploying into a lab I am selecting ‘small’.
Now select the datastore/storage where you want the appliance to be deployed to.
Now select the Network that you want to deploy to.
Now It is time to set up the network details for the appliance. Select IP, subnet, DNS, Gateway and NTP.
Review the choices and customisations that were made and click finish if you are happy. You can click Power On after Deployment if you want to have the appliance come up after deployment.
You can watch the the appliance being deployed in Recent Tasks.
In the next post I will configure the vRelize Operations Manager node for the first time.
